Do you recognise this room? This is how the Pools on the Park health suite (jacuzzi, sauna and steam room) has looked since July 2022 after all the equipment was removed and it was stripped back to bare walls and floor without obtaining planning permission to alter a Grade II listed building.

On 7 November 2023, the Environment, Sustainability, Culture and Sports Committee (ESCSC) voted to convert the former health suite into a group exercise studio.

This non-political action group was formed in November 2023 to fight this decision. A much-loved leisure facility has been taken away from residents through endless delays, a broken commitment, misuse of allocated funding, concealment of data and blatant disregard for our views.

On this website you can read our case, see the survey results that Richmond Council didn’t want residents to see for two years, read the full history of this shambolic saga and see how Richmond compares with neighbouring boroughs in the provision of health suite facilities.

Most importantly, you can get involved by subscribing to our newsletter and contacting your councillors and MP.

Richmond Council’s strategy appears to have been to delay this decision for over three and a half years in the hope that former users of the health suite would forget that it had ever existed. They have destroyed a 28 year reality and turned it into a “long-term ambition”.

We have not forgotten about the health suite.
