On 13 December 2023, we submitted an online petition request to RIchmond Council.
On 22 December 2023, they responded and said it was rejected:
Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding. The proposed petition falls foul of the first requirement in the scheme which states: “Petitions will be accepted only where they relate to a matter that the council can affect, for example they call on the council to take a particular course of action.”
Your petition seeks to overturn a decision of the Committee. You have already been advised of the process by which Rule 19 (previous decisions and motions) operates in Council. That process cannot be overturned by the Petition Scheme.
